Zia Jones is a world-famous acrobat with her name in lights on the Las Vegas Strip. As the headlining star of the ancient Inca Empire-themed Cuzco Resort Hotel & Casino, she performs her aerial ballet five nights a week. Zia is in complete control of her own destiny...until the night she meets handsome Saudi Prince Faoud and allows him to seduce her. A reality check comes complete with recriminations when she is accused of stealing the priceless necklace she wore to the prince's suite after a glitzy televised banquet, and her unique and furtive exit only makes her look guilty as sin. Things tumble way out of control when the Cuzco's head of security, Latino hottie Juan Carlos Ramirez, enters the picture. She's up against an enemy who will stop at nothing to destroy her, and her only salvation seems to be the man who's supposed to put her away. Though Prince Faoud and Juan Carlos must work together to save her, only one man can win her heart.

Nights at the Cuzco Kara Jorges 9781449972158 Books Reviews

Great read. Loved the characters!!!
Love the story about a strong woman. Location, characters and story line all very interesting.
This is a fun book with interesting turns and events. Characters are both loveable and "hate-able" as the plot unfolds, which is great when reading because my interest and emotion changed with those of the characters. Ms. Jorges writes like this. I feel I'm part of the fun and games and part of the decision- making...she's great at doing that with her words and characters. I also appreciate details of the scenery and descriptions of the characters' inner thoughts and can't wait to read the sequel!
Nights at the Cuzco is right up my romantic-suspense alley - and I wasn't disappointed. The characters are likable and by the end, I found myself wanting to know what happens to them in the second and third installments of the trilogy. The storyline and characters are different enough from other books of this genre to keep the reader hooked and wanting more. Zia and Juan Carlos, the romantic leads, sizzle with chemistry and the bad-but-good Faoud leaves you wondering what's in store for him in books two and three. I am most definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy!

I've read several books by Ms. Jorges and hope she keeps writing in the romantic-suspense genre -- this is her best book yet.
This is an extremely well written, intricately plotted mystery that had me guessing till the end. I changed my mind about who the antagonist might be at several points throughout the read and I wasn't disappointed by the eventual reveal. I wasn't crazy at first about the Vegas setting as my initial impression was that Vegas is done to death, however, I'm left wondering if the author spent some serious time there as she writes like an insider and I felt that for the first time in a novel, I was actually relishing being there, which is quite a feat in itself. Perhaps the fact that the heroine is an acrobat and I really enjoyed being taken into the behind the scenes of that world. I loved all the characters but most especially the leading lady, Zia and she is quite the lady, especially given the environment she works in and some of the ethically challenged persons that people that world. All in all, an excellent read.
First, a disclaimer ... I've been fairly vocal about the fact that I've sworn off reading any more novels "in series," because I'm starting to find that technique tiresome. But, this book is by one of my favorite authors, and since it's not technically a "series" (rather, a "trilogy" ... yeah, it's a fine point ...) I decided to break that rule this once, kind of hoping I wouldn't really like it and wouldn't feel compelled to read the next two.

Well, it didn't work; I really enjoyed this book. Having read several of the author's earlier books, it was very exciting to see how her writing style and, in particular, character-development skills have progressed. The characters in this book are multi-dimensional, and she does a great job of weaving their story lines together; I really feel like I know these people.

For anyone who has read J. D. Robb's "In Death" series (which is one of only two series that I am still reading ... ) there is a relationship in this novel that reminds me a lot of Eve Dallas and Mavis. I've always enjoyed the "practical friend/wild friend" pairing technique - in both literature and real life - and that's kind of what this is.

I love that the main players in this book are acrobats! That's a world that I've never really had any insight into, and I have to believe is not commonly written about in novels. I think this added a whole different dimension to the story than having them be "ordinary casino workers" would have done. I wonder where the author's inspiration for this came from. By the end of the book, I was SO wanting to see their show!

Without giving anything away, I can say that there are several interesting plot twists in this book. One of my favorite is that the "mystery person" who appears throughout the book has no identifiable gender; I thought this was a wonderful technique. Also, everything comes together very well at the end of the book, but not in a predictable way (at least not to me.) The author has mastered the ability to weave in and out among many characters and events without inflicting undue confusion on the reader, and I appreciate this.

My only real criticism of the book is something that happens between the main characters at the end of the book ... and I don't want to write a spoiler by saying what it is. It's a minor point, and something probably personal to me; other readers may love it. It's certainly no deal breaker and did not detract from my overall great enjoyment of the story at all.

The bottom line is ... I am quite impressed with this book. I care about all of these people, and can't wait for the next two books, so I can find out what happens to them next. (Oh, shoot ... does that mean I'm reading a "series"?)
Quick to engage, great character descriptions, and a storyline that makes you want to keep reading. Perfect book to loose yourself while reading!
